Here's on of my first attempts at stacking a DSO (I guess LMC is classed as a DSO?). Approx. 21 images stacked in DSS. (Nikon D7000 tripod mounted, 50mm, f/2.0, 8 secs exposures).

I've completely failed at even spotting ISON and Lovejoy over the last 4 nights and the moon spoilt what was probably my last chance this morning, feeling defeated I figured I'd play with some of my old images and post a few up to make me happy.

Comments/criticisms are welcomed! :)

Thanks for looking!

Andrew

On the right path Andrew. The faint structure is beginning to come out. Keep an eye on the histogram to avoid clipping data. To my eye the image needs more green to counteract the magenta hues. Hope to see more from you in the future.

Agree with Jason with 'on the right track' here Andrew, 20 odd subs is the go, looks great and a deep result for 8 sec subs, F2 is definately the advantage here, well put together for a tripod image

Hi Andrew,

I like the colour you've achieved in this image of the LMC, especially out of 8 sec subs.
What ISO rating were you using?

Cheers,

Justin.
