I have just listed my old Nikon F photomic camera on Ebay, along with a number of other old photo accessories. Before I had even finished the listings I had a bid on the Nikon. My question is, just what use are these old cameras now, or is it just collectable for its own sake?

collectors, users (I do both) you still get great photos from 35mm film. I stopped using 35mm this year for articles I write for a mag OS simply so I could email the photos and story that day. Value of film equipment is near nothing unless its mint or rare

Mainly collectable, I have a friend that has been collecting for most of his adult life and has a display of old cameras and photo equipment that goes back to 1900's, absolutely beautiful stuff.

Last count it was around 700 very old and mostly usable cameras.

Sad but true, I couldn't sell my new-looking, A1 condition Minolta Maxxum (with lens) for even $30 on eBay. No one wants film anymore.

I guess I'll just keep it for nostalgia (yet more junk to drag around).

I have a $10K Mamiya system which only did 30 rolls, now worth about $100.
Its just a shelf ornament at the moment.

Just "collectables"
I breaks your heart to dump them......

(Some of the lenses are still pretty good...I use my ol' Zuiko lenses in spectroscopes and as electronic finders...)

My son and daughter-in-law both still shoot film so I gave them all of my Nikon cameras and lenses and motor drives etc etc just because I hadn't used it in years. So mine are still in use except now it's theirs.
