Seeing was very wobbly but did improve a little during a 10 min window so captured this using red mono and colour QHY5L-II.

Still getting to grips with capture settings on this cam and it appears Gain needs to be below 50% for Jupiter to get the best results or else the noise level is rather high needing extra frames stacked or noise reduction which softens the image detail more than I would like.

Thanks Alan I'm very pleased how the colour balance is coming out on the red mono/colour combos.

A very nice picture Stuart, with lots of details! The combination of mono and colour works very well. I wonder if I should go down that track.

Cheers,

Eric

Thanks Eric! Combining mono and colour cams is certainly easier than RGB capturing and you are always guaranteed a colour image as personally I'd hate to be clouded out before I got all 3 colour channels. :eyepop:

Very nice Stuart. Impressive work.:)

Would you say that the qhy5-II color cam is not by itself enough to produce the kind of results you have posted lately?

Thanks again guys!
Oernulfs my latest Jupiter images http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=114446 were taken with the colour cam and are my best yet. If seeing is better the colour cam will produce the better image the difference is not as great as with Saturn where the mono cam made a big improvement.
