Just searching the forums, doing some research on solar observing.

Got some music playing (bit of Clapton).

Clouds have come back again :(.

Hi Stefan,

Out in the dome, focusing my comet rig.
I just saw a tumbling satellite on the 10 sec preview,
a glass of Clare Valley white, ABC radio, kids asleep...ahhh the serenity.

Attempted to put in some last minute study for tomorrow's dreaded maths exam, didn't get far before being distracted by the internet :(

Went to see the tomb of Yu Hong which is on display at the Art Gallery (AD535-593) - which among other things shows the routes of the Silk Road linking Europe to China. I was immediately curious to see if the towns along these routes appear on a much older set of maps - those by the geographer Claudius Ptolemy (AD 90-168), so dug out my copy of his maps for a closer look. And indeed there are towns shown, from the western edge of China, across India to Damascus.

Makes you wonder how much the Romans knew about what lies to the Far East of their empire.

Is that a shooting star above the red square?

I love history, it's so fascinating!

My favourite periods would be:
- The American West/Gold Rush
- Ancient history (Romans/Egyptians)
- The colonial period.

No mate, a very slow tumbling satellite.
The next two 10 sec preview frames showed brightening then fading in a cycle....hence tumbler.
