While enjoying a few nights at the VICSOUTH Star Party at Little Desert Lodge I collected a strange event. The insert shows an object that appeared while setting up to image Andromeda, my thoughts are it is a fireball that entered the atmosphere straight at the lens, any thoughts on this event, people?

My guess by looking at the 2nd Photo.....looks like a satellite....
A couple of ' little ' antenna's ' poking out at the top there.....maybe....

Can you post a photo of the GX in total, and pointing out where on the frame it is please.
Odd little beastie - if it's Aliens, they have no aesthetic ability :)

full image and location in sky, Andromeda was just out of the frame in the lower left corner.
Graham the camera was bumped (either mirror slap or wind etc) initially during exposure and the brighter stars registered the vibration.

Looking at the full image I agree with Andrew, there looks to be a similiar pattern in the lower left of the frame as well on a white star.

I reckon you blokes are right when you look at it from that perspective....
I had a similar thing happen to me earlier this year......I tried to photograph a passing aircraft ( night time )...and the ' nav ' lights made a similar distortion on the image with my camera.
