Opened the observatory this afternoon to check on the Sunspot which is quite prominant through solar viewing glasses.
In the 20cm SCT with Thousand Oaks filter, the spot is quite large and a few tiny spots are also seen around the main one.
Swung the Scope over to Venus which looked like a three quarter moon, then over to the Moon before calling it a day:astron:

I had a look at the same spot late this arvo - first light for my PST. I didn't have much time and patchy cloud interrupted viewing but I managed to resolve the penumbra and some plage around the spot.

Been having a look at this spot for the last few days through baader film
on my 8" newt. It's the largest I've seen for a while, Tried to get some
photo's of it over the weekend but the jetstream was cranking overhead,
must look really nice in the PST. I'm waiting delivery of my PST : )
