Anybody using one of these?

It's not on a goto but I might be able to afford one later on.

I've not had the chance to look through one but ozscopes price looks a little high.
It looks like Astro Pete's is selling the same item for less money. http://www.astropetes.com.au/telescopes/Bresser_152.html

Bresser is a sister brand to Explore Scientific. Their products overlap somewhat. Probably because they are either owned by the same parent company and probably manufactured in the same factory.
If you look at the NEAF videos on youtube they are usually sharing a booth or next to each other.
In saying that Cloudy Nights users seem to really dig the AR152 f6.5 by ES. So the Bresser AR152 f5 is probably as well built with similar functionality. However, 152mm @ f5 is going to be giving alot of false color. No way around that other then filters. There is a yellow filter by Baader that is all the rage in almost eliminating the purple fringing though.

:)These get quite a good rap over on 'Cloudy Nites' most believe that for the price they are very good value , I cant imagine a 6 inch f8 refractor on EQ5 mount for 12-1300 dollars even 10 years ago this would have been 2-3000 dollars , like most and at such a great price ! .
I have a Saxon 150mm f8 on HEQ5 in NZ and optically its excellent , better on deep sky than an 8 inch Newt or CAT , stars look perfect as only a 'Refractor' can them and mine goes just as deep .
But be aware ,,,, total weight of nearly 32kg's these are no light weight's but they break down into 3 main parts , OTA , Mount/tripod and counter weights so they are easy to transport in a car .
Tube on the back seat with seat belt securing it, mount and tripod on the floor ( or boot ) and C/W's on the front floor , easy .;) .
If you decide to get one get it from a dealer that gives a good return policy as these scopes all tho good vary a lot in quality , that's a sad fact at this price range , but if you get a good one the views will knock :thumbsup:your sox off and impress the hell out of your mates  , .
Moon and planets are awesome , but a little CA will be there but a 'Minus Violet' or 'Fringe Killer' or Baader yellow filter Adrian mentions soon fixes that right up .
These are mainly a purely visual scope all tho they can take good deep sky shots but the mount is marginal at best for AP .
My 5c is if you want a HUGE!!! refractor that will impress everyone this is it and the bargain of the decade ....:) and they look so sexy as only a refractor can .

:) Laurie , Andrews price includes a 9-15 and 25mm plossl's a 2x barlow and red torch , and 2-1/4 adaptor , good accessories .
I don't see any accessories with Astro Petes or OS scopes on their web sites ad's for these , I may be wrong , , but if so Andrews is the best buy .

Just had a look. 1k sounds like a good price.
I will make a point of looking through some refractors next time I visit the BAS/SEQAS dark sky site. Most of my scope time is spent with the reflector and it is probably time to see what else is on offer. My Son's 80GTL isn't really a good example of this style of scope.
