After a break of a few months I dabbled again in astro imaging...

Conditions were not too great Saturday morning at VicSouth, with patches of high cloud, but I managed to capture a few subs of R1 before retiring.

Used aggressive processing to bring out the faint tail.

The comet seems to be heading northeast in a hurry so it won't be around much longer for us.

Hi Stephan,

Nice dabble there!

What gear are you using?

Cheers,

Justin.

Thanks Justin,

I used a home made astrograph with an aperture of 132mm and focal length of 330mm. The camera was a QHY8. The combination gives a field of about 4 degrees wide, so this image is a crop (at 100%).

Great image, interesting setup. Any chance of a pic of the astrograph?

Thanks Humayun and Kevin,

Here's an image from earlier this year when I was chasing comet Lemmon.

These days the Companar is riding a second hand EQ6 and is wrapped in space blanket to keep it dry during imaging.
