Hi Everyone.

I have a Meade ETX-90EC + accessories to sell.

I bought it second hand about a month or two ago.

It is in excellent condition and the previous owner used it only for landscape viewing. However there is a slight problem with the telescope turning in the clockwise direction. With the standard controller sometimes it will slew on its own clockwise until you press the right button to stop it and sometimes it doesn't do it.
With the AutoStar controller which I upgraded to it doesn't do it but when you align it to the stars it gets the right angle but will keep slewing clockwise.
If anyone here is a wiz at electronics they should be able to find the problem and fix it easily. The telescope can still be used manually quite easily.

Since I already have my main telescope and have been interested in Solar telescopes for quite a while I thought I might as well sell this and put towards a solar scope.

What it comes with.
- Meade ETX-90EC telescope
- Custom tripod
- Solar filter (might be a Thousand Oakes, not sure however it's one of them fancy glass ones) - SOLD
- Original hand controller
- AutoStar 497 controller (is a little bit damaged on the bottom right hand corner but can be taped up and works fine).
- 12v DC cord
- CraftRight storage case
- Meade power supply + cable to plug into a mains socket. - SOLD
- 2 finderscopes (inc. with telescope)

I am looking to trade it for a Solar telescope such as this one: http://www.bintel.com.au/Telescopes/Solar/Coronado-PST/623/productview.aspx

If anyone wants to trade, trade + cash or cash for the telescope send me a PM.

Will upload photos later this evening.

Looking for one of these...

A few questions:
- Can this be mounted to my 130SLT which has tube rings?
- How heavy is it and can my 130SLT mount take the load?

Stefan,
The PST "black box" has 2 x 1/4" photographic sockets - if you can use these to connect to your rings you'd be OK.
IMHO a small Alt-Az mount would be easier ;-)
Please note - PST's are not always "imaging" friendly (They were designed as visual instruments) - there's limited access to the focus. Most webcams/ DMK's will fit BUT DSLR's will definately need a Barlow etc.
The PST is a great introduction to Ha observing of the Sun.
Edit: Just weighed my PST - 1.2Kg

Thanks for the advice!

I have a Meade DSI and Celestron NexImage 5 they should be alright for imaging the sun yeah?

Would I need any additional equipment with the solar scope, can I use my standard eyepieces?

Stefan,
Normal standard eyepieces are OK.
Your DSI etc would be poor choices to use.
The best results are being obtained with mono video cameras ie DMK series....
These give fast frame rates, to feeze the seeing and by stacking the AVI you get maximum quality and resolution.

The Meade DSI I have is a monochrome camera and have the filters to go along with it.

$300 just for the telescope (including finderscopes, eyepiece and standard hand controller).

Does not need a tripod to be used!

Surely someone wants this for spare parts or to fix up or for a project!

Make me some offers.
