I used a Pentax 67 300mm F4 lens for this one. I attached it to my FLI Proline camera and used the CDK17 as an autoguider!
Ha O111 bicolour 2 hours total.
Not an attempt at an APOD but it turned out allright though.

Thanks Larry. I was imaging with lenses at the time and thought I would try out this Pentax 67 300mm lens I had gotten some time ago but never used. So this is first light for it. It makes a cheap telescope!

Looks alright to me Greg, it is such an awe inspiring object, hard to take a bad image of it anyway  This and particularly Johns latest version remind me so much of the Schmidt contact prints (ie 14" X 14" 1:1 copies) I found one night in the Oddie dome up at Stromlo back in the mid 80's

Excellent Greg. Gaud, there's so many interesting blobs in there to image in NF.
Great shot and perfect processing!
Have you tried a script written in PixInsight called NBRGB (narrow band RGB)?

Thanks Mike. It amazed me how many tufts of Ha there are. John Gleasons recent shot is a fantastic reference for all those nebulas.
It sure is. A lot going on.
Ha red (O111 + Ha)/2 for green and O111 for blue.
There are some nice targets for your RCOS NB setup. Have a look at John Gleasons one. There is a nice nebula up at the right hand corner that is worth imaging. Also NGC1935 is another. I started imaging that in Ha quite some time ago and is an unfinished project.
Thanks Ian. No I haven't. I have PI Version 1.7. I sent an email to PI about how to upgrade but it was ignored. The website is a bit of a mess and does not make it clear how you get the latest version. Very European that way.
Greg.
Beautiful Greg. Love the colours.
Hmmmm, all in one shot! That's justs not right. ;)

Nice use of the camera lens. Well done Greg!
This scrip is not part of the PixInsight core and should also work with V1.7.
You can download it from:

It looks very nice to me Greg  Nice to see another image with the 300mm/PL16803, I kinda miss that lens for these wide fields :confuse3:

Thanks Ian. I intend to upgrade to V1.8.
Its a good lens. This is the non ED lens version. It can get some nice widefields easily.
Thanks Carlos.

The amount of Ha in the surrounds of the LMC is amazing.

Interesting look to this area. I don't mind the mustards. Is there some slight star elongation in the top right corner? In any event a great field of view of this entire region.
Great shot Greg.
Do you have any shots of the lens in action out of interest?

Cheers Paul. The lens really needs more support as its quite a long lens. The adapter has a small amount of play in it. So need to adjust something there.
No I don't but I could take one next time I have it out.

Thanks H. That Pentax 67 lens is a great and cheap way of doing widefields. Its only a $450 lens.
