NGC253 with DSLR
The images were taken yesterday and we had a lot of high-level smoke from the prescribed burnings in the hills.
Total of 105min (2min unguided subs)
60Da + CPC925x0.63
If there is no smoke today I hope to add some Ha.

Very nice.
That bit of green halo can be removed with the free HLVG plug in for photoshop.

Very nice image Ian! Can't believe you managed 2min unguided subs with a CPC9.25, impressive!

Thanks Greg, thanks for the hint!
Is the plug-in similar to the PixInsight SCNR?
Thanks Mohammed.
I use HD-wedge, so it's EQ-south mode, not alt-az.
Thanks Marc & Jo ..

Ian I believe that HLVG is a Photoshop version of the PI SCNR. Not 100% sure but I think so.

An amazing result with a DSLR -
what will you achieve with a CCD one day?

Nice image Ian! Maybe we could try and do some long baseline optical interferometry! I was on the same target on the other side of Perth at the same time :-)
Cheers,
Andrew.

I’ll reprocess the whole thing when I have the Ha data.
Cheers Rick.

It’s harder, but you can squeeze some details out of DSLR images too
Thanks Rex.
:thanx:
People say so, I’ll try both, just for comparison.
Thnx Greg.

For LP backyard photography as I practise DSLRs are just OK
Cheer mate.

True.
Your side of the town must be much darker than the surrounded by shopping centres Churchlands ..
Next time when you shoot something interesting – give me a buzz – combined, we’ll have 3D ..
Cheers mate ..

Very good details in 253 Ian, a nice galaxy glow about it also for 2min subs and your scope F/ratio ? CPC925x0.63 That would make the F10 to F6.3, is this correct ?
Thanks Bob,
yeah, optics says it should be F6.3 ..

Good job! That's on my target list this month;)
Thanks Ross,

I performed 3 iteration of 2-star + mount alignment and when Diphda appeared right in the middle of the cross I knew the alignment was almost perfect.
:hi:
Thanks Brett,
:thanx:
This month is probably the best for this target ..
