Ooooh I can't WAIT for this, I'm such a huge fan.
I even saw it live back around 2007 when Jeff Wayne brought his live show here, was beyond awesome! :eyepop: Big Martian robot on stage and Richard Burton in hologram narrating and huge screen on stage adding drama :eyepop:. One of the best experiences of my life. :prey2: And I think I've seen all the movies (I tally 3 all of up- don't think there were anymore) so finally, finally I get to listen to the original broadcast.... sweeeet!

Hi Suzy,

If you can't wait, you can also listen to it here :)

I always love the interview of the 23 year old Orson Welles by the press the day after.

He does so well to play the innocent. With the benefit of hindsight and knowing
what a genius he was, we see he uses them to his full advantage.

Eight months later he is awarded the RKO contract to produce, direct, write and act in
two feature films including incredibly the initial right to first cut and the rest is history.

Hi Suzy
Anyone who has an Android phone can also download an app called Tunein Radio. Can receive any station around the world that streams. ABC Radio Brisbane is listed. Not sure if this app is available for iphone, but I'm sure they would have something similar.

Tune-In has an iPhone app, but also the ABC has its own app with every one of their stations on it. Ive got both on my phone.

Hi Gary,

Would you believe I'd just stumbled across that interview & had just finished watching it when I came here. :D

Watch the broadcast on youtube? Nooooooo I want to get into the moment with all the other listeners- so much more exciting that way, so I'm holding out. And I stumbled across that last night- wow- I never ever realised it'd be on you-tube!

Thank you for those links all the same- others here might want to you-tube it. :)
Counting the hours today.......!

Hi John,

Thank you for that info- I never realised. Gosh there's an app. for everything isn't there.
I will notify the people on facebook on the IIS page.
Good find! (Y)

They had about 8hrs of material that kept repeating. I think I heard all of it at least once. The tripple J version was 'interesting' and always seemed to be on.

My wife was coming and going and got very confused hearing small bits of one and then another. She did manage to sit down and listen to all of the original play and then she got it.

Thanks for filling me in Michael, much appreciated.
And yes, I can see why your wife would've been confused if she hadn't heard it before.

Yes, one of the interviews on ABC Extra had the same conclusion that there was no wide spread panic.

But still, both the original story and the story of the panic are good stories.
