Success! ASIGN Observatory II got a full night of imaging in last night. Good seeing, late moon and nice and cold.

This is a combined stack of 21 exposures of five minutes each exposure. Trying to make sense of the software (MaximDL5 was challenging, but the end result was worth the hours of processing.

I did all of the image calibration, stacking and preliminary stretching in MaximDL5, then exported a 16 bit TIFF to photoshop for final tweaking.

Thanks guys. I'm sure there's a lot of powerful tools still to be used in MaximDL5 to make this better, but I'm just feeling my way around this new program (to me anyway) and I'm pretty stoked with this result.

Shout out to Mark (Multiweb) for his help with the software.

Baz.

Nice shot, Baz :)

Send some "postcards" of your shots to Jo Griggs and Co. I'm sure she'll appreciate it :)

Great shot Baz - gotta be happy with your mancave if you can produce that sort of result.

I can well imagine you sitting in your observatory enjoying the crisp air and thinking "ahhh this is reeeeally cool" and then enjoying the comfort of down stairs at times too :)...great result and I wish you many more

Loving it mate. Looking forward to running two groups through here next week!

Sitting in the Italian chair right now in front of the big screen, watching sci-fi with a nice little glass of neat Cointreau while I wait for the clouds to clear upstairs.

Bliss.

Thank you sir!

Top result all round.

Great observatory. Cool image.

And I like your method of chasing clouds away. SciFi and a drink.

My only change to your modus operandi would a good Single Malt Scotch.

Just for that it was worth making a two storey setup.

Nice work Baz, and I bet that you reckon it was all worthwhile now! Just don't turn on the heater downstairs when you're imaging.
