Hello All,

Can anyone explain the difference between these two series?

Thanks,

Steve

I think they're meant to be effectively the same filters, except they're balanced to give 1:1:1 RGB combine ratios for G2V stars (not including any atmospheric extinction effects) depending upon which sensor you're using.

The Astrodon website provides a good summary:

Steve,

As Dave said, these filter sets are designed to be well balanced for Kodak/Trusense sensors. The E series is for the KAF sensors (e.g. KAF-8300, KAF-16803, etc.) and the I series is for the KAI interline sensors (e.g. KAI-11000).

Dunno which would be best for Sony sensors. I'd guess the I series since most (all?) of the Sony chips are Interline.

In reality you should be able to get good results even with the "wrong" filters. You might just need to vary the number of subs or sub length for the weaker colour(s).

Cheers,
Rick

Ok, and thanks Dave.

I had to read each a couple time to see the difference is relative to the chip type. So the E series is for me.

Thanks!

Ok, thanks Rick. You must have posted right when I posted last, as I didn't see your post until today.

So I read incorrectly, as I have the KAI chip. Correctly, I should select the I Series then.

Thank you Rick and Dave.

Steve
