Battery stuck in Collimator

Hey Guys,

I'm not sure why but when I went to change the batteries (LR44x?) in my Bintel collimator, only the first 3 would slip out.

The 4th seems to be stuck fast. I suspect the whack on the bench I've already given it probably hasn't done the laser much good - lol, but if there is a way to get that dang battery out, I would like to see if it still works.

Anyone had this before? And come up with an answer I mean - lol.

I have used a chop stick or pencil ,put a dab of supper glue on the end and wait till it is glued and hopefully you can get the battery out.

I have a BinTel collimator and it only has 3 LR44 batteries.

I stick a strong narrow bar magnet into the tube and tap the batteries out.

Hi Rob and Ian,

thanks for your replies guys. I already took out 3 batteries Rob, and I can still clearly see the LR44 and a '+' sign on the surface down the tube, - so I'm guessing it's another battery.

I'll have a go with Rob's suggestion and see if I can't get it moving like that.

I just went to check this again Rob. Your suggestion about 3 batteries as opposed to my thoughts about it taking 4 has got me thinking.

I've definitely taken 3 out, and I can definitely still see LR44 on the exposed surface at the bottom of the tube.

However, I've put 3 more batteries on top of the mystery surface below, and hey presto - it works!

The only thing is that the batteries in the tube now come right up to the rim of the said tube and don't expose enough thread for that brass coloured retaining cap to bite. All I could do is use the spring to hold it in place, and screw to cap on. But whatever - it works and I'm grateful for that.

Odd, I recall them having three batteries. When I changed them, the last one was stuck. I had to drill into it, insert a screw and pull it out with pliers holding onto the screw!:eyepop: It worked :thumbsup:

It could be what you see is just engrave info to make sure what type and which way to face batteries when you are replacing them?

Others who have the same collimator can confirm if this is the case.

In fact I've managed to locate the instructions and they do say to install 3 batteries Eric, so it looks as if Bobson may be right.

Not sure why there's now no room for the screw cap to screw on though!
