Still flying ...
Over the weekend we were repeatedly 'buzzed' by this beautiful old lady taking tourists over the city. It's maintained by a group of pilots and enthusiasts out at a rural airfeild but often comes in to the Military Airbase ~15 kilometers north of us. I grabbed the SONY and 300mm and took a bunch of pix. Most are belly shots as she flew overhead but managed few more classic views from afar to show fuselage detail. She made a lovely radial engine noise over Auckland for about 8-10 flights over the weekend.

Beautiful indeed.

I guess a DC-3 and a 757 are all that remain of the RNZAF these days... almost ;)

Oooo, cruel, cruel indeed..... LOL
Nah, just the 757, the DC3 doesn't belong to them.
They got some new(ish) choppers though and a couple of Hercs and an Orion or two.

Actually there is a private owner for a couple of old Russian Migs we see in the skies now and then. He probably has more potential firepower than our air force boys... And a Spitfire and a Mosquito if it hasn't been shipped off to it's owner in UK yet. And I can find some Harvards and a Mustang.
Nah, we're ok,
