Standing with Venus, at Monkey Mia, Western Australia.

Such an incredible view, at an incredible part of the world under incredible dark skies.
Plenty of time and inspiration to think about things, when you’re staring up into such a sight.

Self-portrait using the 10s self-timer. I had to run out and stand still for 30 seconds :)

Canon 6D, 14-24mm lens, 30s exposure @ ISO6400, f/2.8.

Thanks for looking.

I'm reminded of a poster for The Last Starfighter;

Cool shot. Freaky framing. Everything is in line, even Rho dust lanes coming down to venus and your head. Next you need to get a plastic light saber from the reject shop and strike a real selfy.

interesting image, nicely done.Did you have a friend or family member standing next to camera-to do a grab of gear if a vehicle came along,I'd not be game to do this by myself, just in case a vehicle came along.

Nice image Mike.

It reminds me of that eureka moment in the cartoons when the light bulb goes on above somebodys head.

Thanks Larry! I've heard that comment a few times :)

haha cool thanks for that link :)

That would be cool :) Thanks Marc :)

Cheers Rod.

No, it was a very quiet road and I was in the middle of a long stretch, so I would've heard any cars coming a long time before they would've crushed me or the camera :) I would've had time to move.

haha thanks Ric :)

Thanks Roger :) I toned down the red. Maybe too much yellow now? :)

Cheers Mike.

Thanks Ingrid!

Thanks Leon. As I said to Chris, it was a very quiet road and I would've had plenty of time to grab the gear if a car came. I didn't see a single car during the 20-30 minutes I was in the middle of the road.

Groan! Thanks Al :)

Thanks mate!
