Hi everyone

Inspired by Bert's Corona Australis, I thought I would have a go too.

It was a promising evening when i arrived at Ken Charlwood's place but by the time i was set up and ready to image, light cloud began scatting across the sky. consequently I got less than half of the data I wanted.

Anyway here is the result:

Canon 300D piggybacked on a Meade LXD55 SN10.

Luminar 135mm @ f4, 6x4min at ISO1600.

Processed in IP and PS.

Great image Itchi. I like it. this sort of wide field looks great.

If you do it again I'd love to see a really long exposure to really bring out that faint dusty nebulosity.

What's the field of view of that 135mm lens with the Canon?

Did you have much trouble with blue halos at all?

Mike

Thanks Mike. I've been experimenting with this lens for a few months now. I really like the results I am getting. Not bad for a $30 market buy.

I'll will give it a go. I was dissapointed with the amount of data I did get, so I will definitely try again. I picked up a 2x teleconverter to match this lens today at the market for $10 so I am keen to give it a go too.

From a rough calculation, about 10x6.5 deg.

This lens is reasonable, particularly if it is stopped down a little. Wide open it is f3.5 but I usually image at f4-f5. There is still a little trouble with bright stars, but I can usually fix that in the processing. IP's star size & Halo reduction helps.

I did not know where it was until now but I recognise that group of stars (I think)
