Hi Astro'liano's

Last weeks Helix I was happy with, This one has two nights data combined, 4.75 hrs, 19 x 15mins. Also spent more time processing. It is most likely a bit red strong but seemed to be needed at my level of processing as the aim was to lift the "eyebrow" ? I have accomplished that I think ?

Added EDIT : Just looking at the pic and have notice I have left/worked an unfeathered selection just outside the Helix perimeter

Edit 2 : Have checked JohnH's Helix out ! Wow John, I feel like i'm back on Dslr ;) So I needed to bump my levels up, hence adding a third Image, where we'd be without guy's like yourself  cheers.

Hope you find it worth a Squizz, the second is a pixel crop
CC never goes astray ;)
Thanx for looking.

Bob,

Great shot. I don't think the red is too strong as the star colours look all shades from red to blue. Good deep Helix with a galaxy to boot.

Also fantastic to hear the QHY is working well. I just ordered the QHY23, so cross fingers I can have the same experience you are with your photon transducer.

When do we start to call you Great Grass Hopper of the OSC.

He he you havin fun Bob huh? ;)

Looks to me that the main thing letting your images down at the moment is the tracking (?) the neb and colours are getting there but he stars look a bit wonky  The first version looks ok but the latest version shows up too many artefacts

Enjoying watching your foray into CCD imaging mate, from little things big things grow

Ditto on Mikes comments. Nice to see others taking on the challenge, and enjoying it!

The more you try, sometimes fail, sometimes win: you only get overall better at this stuff. Important to enjoy it, even the times we fail!

Cya!

Very kind of you to mention me - but - I am just riding on the shoulders of the IIS giants who went here before us (you know who you are!).

My image benefits from long sub exposures which, asI am discovering, seem to be the key to those rich NB images I have drooled over in the past.

Like starting all over again, but a different level mate

Cheers Ross, am happy to grab them inner Bock Globules here & there, I think thats them :thanx:

It is Fun Mike, & it is great stuff from you to take an interest in the guys with modest/humble gear, yep, very inspiring & appreciated mate
I still need to tune my mount somewhat, Re: Tracking/Guiding, bought the mount 2ndhand and can sence some backlash play, also working on guiding/flex issues, tho am happy stars are not aleast trailing like before :P Correct you most likely are on the last image, Slack of me as I just took the previous image into Canon sofware (not PS) and just lifted the levels, so, the stars blew out somewhat with it
So, on with th growing, yep, true words . .
Rgrds . . .

Too right Steve  This hobby can be very rewarding, and the new QHY has definately increased addictiveness levels, consequences also

No Worries John  I guess its all part of keeping the hobby alive, riding on others shoulders :P Passing/showing our doings to others is inspiring in any level  Your images show great controll over guiding, something we all have to come to grips with, , appreaciate your comments & Images mate, HavagoodN.
