Hi all,

Seeing people with 17.5hrs...22.5hrs of data, and I'm wondering how you can chain enough clear skies to do that at the moment?? May be you don't live in Melbourne. Even our deep sky site in Heathcote Victoria has been somewhat finicky, with full night clear skies on the weekdays...

This one is from the city; it's of a section of the SMC, including NGC346, NGC371 and NGC 395 [I think].

It's about 3 hours of data, taken with a CDK12.5, STL11000, on AP900. Colours a bit washed out, but it was fun still to do.

That's superb Steve!

Even more so that's from such a light polluted area.
It's certainly the most detailed image I've seen of this region.

Cheers,

Justin..

Steve, I like it. I like the natural wispy look about it. Yes, Melbourne has been very difficult to image. Unless your into that cloud spotting thing or wind.

Nice work Steve. The colour looks a little muted but the detail is superb.

Thanks everyone for the feedback!

Steve, your right, the colours are quite faint, with the light pollution being the colour killer. I had the worst capture numbers, with the best colour sub being FWHM 3.9, and the worst up around the 7's. I kept the data up to FWHM 5.0 [where I would normally delete anything 3 or above].

I'm going to try again, especially seeing a few nice pieces of work from other IIS members coming out of city locations.

Bye everyone,

Steve

I really like the detail and muted colours. Well done. For 17.5 hours of dat you need a remote setup. So you can image for months before collecting all the data.;)

Thanks Paul, and I would love a remote setup. It's clearly an ideal option. Maybe one day...

Cheers,

Steve :thanx:
