Hanging Helix NGC 7293

Hi there Astro'lianos.

In Aquarius this common PN has many a renditions depending on acquisitions and how deep one might go ? Well the main Neb is rather straight forward but them extended outer halos of faint dust Ill leave for you NB big guns :P
I gave it most my time last Leyburn and averaged 10 x 900sec subs each night for three nights, tho I have not been able to utilize them all yet, as I dont have EQMod and 1000 T point allignment ect, which I assumed to help in lining up each nights subs for stacking. Another complication I threw in the works was I rotated the camera between nights :rolleyes: After installing Fitts liberater so can use/see subs in PS to attempt to sought out, I found that now need to again crop every sub to exact same pixel dimensions, yay ;)
So, here is my result from processing 10 subs from one night, a small hint of outter halo is evident, tho decided not to work on it itself much !

That's really nice, some good detail there but maybe a little too much deconvolution on the stars in the middle? At least I think that's what it is, I find I get that on my images if I don't matte the stars out when using deconvolution.
I like the colours too :)

Do you use DeepSkyStacker? If not you should give it a go as it will align, rotate and crop your subs for you, just load all your subs in, with darks (and flats etc if you want), and hit "check all" and then "Stacked checked pictures". Of course there are many more in-depth options but give it a go with default settings then load the resulting image into Photoshop and see what you get!

Looks pretty good, Bob! You've got a hint of the "eyebrow". Colours are nice. Maybe a little "crunchy" as Hugh suggested.

Ok, Thanx Much Hugh, one thing I did do differently on the stars was I didnt feather when I saturated, on purpose attempting to keep stars even tighter, but then applied a 1.5pixel feather for a blurr/matte which looked ok on the full file, tho when resized to small jpg & sharpened a little further I've gone too far, so, thanx for pointing that our mate, cheers :thumbsup:
Also, i did use DSS, after I cropped the frames, cropped because each nights were prob 200 pixels out & wasnt sure if default allignment would deal with that size discrepancy ? Will give another go tho, yep. Cheers for your valued input Hugh :thumbsup:
