Another attempt at the eagle

I still can't quite nail the Eagle in a way I want it. I'm not quite sure why.

Around about this time last year I had a go from a nice dark site (near where astrofest is hosted) and got about 1h 20min worth of data: http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=95021

Now I had a go from my backyard. This time with a QHY10 instead of the Nikon D800. So the Ha came out far better.

But ... no blue. I've noticed this a few times now. There's at least 2 blue stars in this photo but they came out white. A lot of my photos seem to lack blue stars. :shrug: I don't *think* I'm over exposing.

Anyway here it is in its glory, 4.5hours worth from north Brisbane. 5min subs.

I don't know much about the QHY10 but being a Sony sensor it will have anti-blooming which effects the dynamic range near full signal and stops over exposing to a destructive level but it still might not be enough to stop overload from the green pixels next to it in the bayer matrix and swamping the signal of the blue. Maybe some much shorter exposures to blend in just to get the star colours.

I didn't get strong colours until I went mono with LRGB, but that is not to say the OSC is not capable of getting good colour I'm just not the person with the knowledge of how to improve your result.

It's not just the centre of the stars. One of the stars towards the bottom of the eagle should show some blue nebulousity as it's partially obscured by dust. Wouldn't have thought twice about it if it were just the star centres which aren't responding well to blue.
