A few here have been posting recent images of NGC300, so i decided to join in the fray. This isn't as detailed as those images, but we're talking different equipment too. This was taken with a 130mm f5 newtonian and a modded Canon 1000D, on a HEQ5. Guiding with a QHY5LII and a Rubinar 500mm f8 mirror lens.
Capture details (all ISO1600)

Both this image and my recent M42 have some slight elongation from Dec backlash which I need to chase down at some point. Apart from that this new 'baby' setup is working nicely for me and I'm quite happy with the result here. Nonetheless, comments and critique are still most welcome. :)

Hi Richard,
that's an exceptional picture considering you're using a
130mm f5 newtonian and a modded Canon 1000D.
You've got the arms of the galaxy & even the small red nebula areas inside the galaxy.
cheers

You could run "Star Rounder" (a photoshop plugin) and fix up those stars if you were keen.
I'm not sure if it's still available for download, but if you pm me your email addy I can shoot the file over to you.
