Hi all,
I have a question. I downloaded the gas giants app, someone on the forum was talking about it, sorry I dont remember who. I would really love to observe a moon or a shadow of a moon move across the face of jupiter or saturn. Am i dreaming with a 6" dob or is this doable? If so, would I be correct in saying that light pollution shouldnt be a problem given that it is planetary viewing ie I can do this from my backyard which is semi dark.

I've viewed and imaged an Io transit from near the middle of Sydney with an ED80 so you should have no trouble with a 6" dob.

I use an app called "Where is Io" as it has a nice way of displaying where the Galilean moons are and when they will transit: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dague.astro
