Hi Guys
This has been a comedy of errors. 29hrs of 3nm Ha and 20hrs of 3nm NII added together simply cause I didnt know what to do with them seperately. 20hrs of 5-7nm Ha (or fatter) wouldve had exactly the same result, this is the downside of very narrow filters on Ha and NII rich objects. 5.6hrs of OIII.
Also I took 14 hrs of SII (very dim) which I had to ditch. All it did (mapped as Green) was add purple to the image .Now I know why no-one bothers with SII on this :P.
So, Helix in NB Ha Ha Ha OIII mapped as LRGB (http://fredsastro.smugmug.com/Photography/Astrophotography-1/16631549_fD6fJj#!i=2809528923&k=wsRNcxv&lb=1&s=A) (click for big).
Taken on an RCOS 10" RC Scope at f9, SBIG STXL6303E Camera and PME mount at itelescopes Siding Spring Observatory.Processed with CCDstack, Star Tools and Photoshop.
Oh, and some stars died during production, I dont care.

Eye candy. :prey2:
POW! ZAP! Uber cometary globules detail Batman! A super image you've produced Fred. I completely agree that you need to ditch the 3nm Ha and NII filters. 5nm Ha will get you the NII data in one hit and take the grunt work away in the processing trying to combine the two. Really nice details, especially for a 10" which emphasises the mega data approach. The colour palette has all the 'Fred hallmarks'. SSO skies, wow, the wait is killing me.

Wild image Fred. Almost surreal. Very impinging. Its hard to believe all that stuff came off that tiny star in the centre.

I need to look at this on monitor at home but looks like a great result from a lot of data! Nice work!

Some quality resolution in that Freddo... very nice work
Not a criticism at all but in this case I recon juuuust a slightly wider FOV would give a little more context and enhance the viewers pleasure ... but pretty awesome none the less

Sweet with a nice colour palette. Cool detail too. The image did not suffer from any of the booze we drank during image capture by the looks. 54 hours is great.

Very smooth image indeed, the 3nm filters keeps the stars tiny. Cometary blobs are very smooth and detailed and I really love the rich colours of blue and orange. Very long subs really fill those deep wells, 10min subs in my 14" hardly gets anything just a few hundred.

Wow that's impressive, the colours and details are stunning. Very nice colour palette. Great work.
I have yet to try this one. The Helix really seems like the one target that people gather lots of data on! Well worth it obviously :)

Lovely, Fred! I'm working on this one too and had the same problem with 3nm Ha. I have 20 hours of Ha and it's still fairly noisy. I'm keeping the stars, though. In fact, I plan to add RGB stars to mine ;)

Thanks for your nice comments Guys, much appreciated.
Ive just come back from a visit to the country. Theres a 20"CDK there that has just taken Helix megadata to a whole new level, detail and vastly more extension I have never seen before, I hope it comes to the net soon. Im going to have to try much harder.
The FOV is a bit small, but I used several rotator positions by accident (a nightmare to stack) and some edges wouldve been in view with a wider FOV.
