ToUcam Jupiter 28/06/2006

Hi all

Here's the ToUcam efforts from the other night. The results are still quite good I feel, though comparing the DMK results to these, I do think the DMK definitely has the edge in resolution, detail and less noise/grain.

The large image was the combination of 5x powermate + 75mm extension tube. The smaller image is the 5x powermate alone.

The large image was captured at 10fps for 2 minutes, the smaller image at 5fps for 2 minutes.

Hey Mike, very nice:thumbsup: Expect using the Toucam seems like a cake-walk after using the DMK?

Reckonn I prefer the shot just with the 5x powermate - detail seems just a tad more defined:)

The DMK is easy to use right now cause it's just mono. So it's no more difficult than the ToUcam. It will get more difficult when the filterwheel is introduced into the equation.

In fact the ToUcam images take longer now, because of the extra processing they need in R/G/B splitting. The mono images just goes through registax, then some LR deconvolution in AstraImage, and final contrast/curves/USM adjust in photoshop. :)

Very nice mate. Do you have any shots on here of this toucam colour shot & the mono DMK shot next to each other to compare ?

Nup John, you can open this attachment and then open the one from the DMK thread and compare :)

I'll post an image tomorrow with them side by side.

The "first light with DMK" thread has an image in worse seeing, with them side by side.

Those are excellent Jupiter images Mike. It is inspiring to see how you have made such tremendous progress with your skills and techniques, as well as making such a significant contribution to the amateur and professional community with your Jupiter images. Even more so, given your relatively low end equipment.

Your enthusiasm and dedication is quite extraordinary, I hope they continue to serve you well and that you get the recognition you deserve.
