Hi folks,

I was google image searching NGC 6188 and found this image, but for all my attempts (including reverse image searching) I cannot locate the author, either from the metadata or various other searches.. and it's a popular image appearing in many places!

I would love to ..
a) congratulate the author
b) know how this colour palatte was created!

Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

Andy

I found the authors using a reverse Google image search.

This particular rendition was by a guy called Kenny:

but Piotrek Sadowski captured the original data and performed initial processing:

You call that a 6188. Now this (http://www.martinpughastrophotography.id.a u/images/NGC6188_NB.jpg) is a 6188 :D

Seriously, I prefer the original rendition too I think

Yup, Martin's takes the cake for sure. Natural colours, great fidelity.

You can literally swim in Piotrek's Lagoon. LOVE it: http://www.astrofotografia.com.pl/photogallery/m8_2/m8_full.htm

With the greatest respect folks, no offence intended at all, but...

There's nothing natural about the Hubble palette, or for that matter, the RGB versions of this either. Seriously unless you were on the bridge of the USS Enterprise how would we know what these DSO's look like?

Regardless, it's subjective as are all forms of Art : )
Kenny's interpretation of this image appeals to me, it's different and unique, the colours are vibrant and exiting, almost luminous - and the object looks 3D.

I'd just love to know how he did it!

Cheers

I am now enquiring about Astrosib RC's ;) :) Seems they deliver outstanding results.
