I got one of them big craft right cases from Bunnings to fit my Meade telescope. As some may know I had a rage the other night because I bought the small one and it didn't fit!

This one fits perfectly and better yet it fits the tripod in as well!

Silly question though. The lid goes down nicely but there is a bit force needed to lock it down due to the foam. I wanted to ask can this damage the telescope in any way? I was looking as I was pushing the lid down and it looked like the whole telescope was being pushed into the foam which looked alright. It's the bottom part (the mount) since it sticks out more.

Yeah stupid question but want to make sure.

:thumbsup:Nice fit Stefan , it looks like the extra width of the base is causing the problem ? ,how much are the clips pulling that last little bit down ? 5mm ? 10mm ? .
If its only 5mm I don't see it being a problem if that little extra weight is coming on the base .
One more thing , can you see the case lid rising as you flick the catches down ? if not I would not worry as the foam is doing its job .
But as I said if that little extra is coming down on the base of the scope which is bigger in diameter than the scope , I would not worry as that part is quite strong .

The case came with 4 layers of foam.
- The lid has the funny shaped one
- Then you have the pluckable foam
- Two layers of standard foam acting as a base (one layer had to be removed to fit the scope)

When the lid is sitting on top of the telescope with no force applied it is about 30mm. There are 4 clips (2 at the front and 2 on the side) but when pushing down the lid it clicks nicely.

Removing the telescope it leaves a great indentation on the base layer of the foam which I suspect is doing it's job well haha.

Also the lids aren't rising at all when the catches are down. I think this is because of the 2 extra catches on the side that really help the case lid to stay down.

But yeah I think it's alright because the telescope is being surrounded and pushed by foam.
