Took me ages, but looked at Neptune and Uranus last night! Amazing to see the outermost planet in the solar system! (Although, I'm all for Pluto being a planet - but I don't think my 8" dob will make searching for that little guy worth-while!) The sky was a little hazy last night and a bit bright for some reason, but Neptune was a definite blue-ball in a 9mm EP with a 2 x barlow; it seemed to get a little distorted with my 6mm Orion Edge, probably due to conditions...happy to finally see it!:)

 Good hunting Shaun. It is mind blowing thinking about the length of time that the light has travelled to reach the back of our eyes. I will be heading out tonight to track down these planets and some other faint objects. I have read that it is possible to see Neptune's largest moon. My charts are printed and the sky is clear, so fingers crossed.
