Hello Everyone.

I managed to take this image at the ASV lmdss site in August.
I was interested to see how a unmodified DSLR camera could handle imaging a faint object like the "Dark Doodad". The lmdss site was perfect nice dark and stable skies.
Details
Pentax K-x
ISO 800
17 x 5 minute subs + master Dark and Flat.
ED80 telescope with the Focal reducer.
Guided using the OAG and the NEQ6pro.
Processed in DSS and PS CS3.

Very nice image.

I have the same camera but living in the tropics I find it generates a lot of noise and amp glow once the air temp goes over 20 degrees.

Tnx guys

I am rather happy but typically with these type of objects the more data the better.

Regards Paul .

Beautifully done. I would love to have a go at this object but my FOV is a bit restrictive with the 110 Megrez.

Thank you Steve and Tony

A far better effort compared to my first attempt processing this object.Typcially I allways need two to three attempts to get it close to my liking.
Regards Paul.

Quite nice.

I am planning to image that same area. Its a bit low at the moment but it sure is a nice area. A bit like Corona Australis.

Greg.

Hi Greg,
I think the SCP region is a little under rated. I think the wider field of view reveals quite a bit. There is another interesting little Galaxy NGC 2442 in Voltans too.
Look forward to seeing your results
Regards Paul.
