Since getting our 12" Dob four weeks ago we had a few good sessions last week but last night was THE BEST :D

Crystal clear dark skies right in our own backyard. The whole milky way bright and clear. The glow of Nebula and Clusters everywhere.

Wanted to test the Pentax 10 XW.

Jupiter was the best we had seen it since getting our Dob and with the Pentax the detail including the GRS was amazing.

Lagoon - Eagle - Trifid - Swan - Eta Carina - Tarantula. What a night for Nebula !
The Pentax worked really well with our UHC Filter we had never seen the Swan so large and detailed.

Sombrero was increadable larger than we had seen. It just seemed to cover more and more of the EP as we looked into it longer. M64 wonderful.

The Jewel Box and Omega Centauri amazing. The Pentax working so well with separation of stars and clear and sharp right to the edges of EP.

As you can tell we were EXCITED. We spent nearly 6 hours out in the freezing cold but it was just one of those nights. :jump:

Yes i agree!! I'm glad you guys had a great night too. I had the same sort of night last night.
Whilst i was taking long widefield shots of the milky way on my new eq mount, My dob, argonavis and i were having a great time touring the sky.
I think the seeing was the best i have seen for a long while. Possibaly 9/10.
Got to bed at about 3.00am.

Happy that you like the Pentax. It's an absolute stunner of an eyepiece:thumbsup:

The big problem now is that it's premium eyepieces or nothing!!!:D

You won't be able to go back, now the Pentax has shown you the light:scared:

Sounds like you had a fantastic night. The 10mm XW and the 12" Dob are indeed a perfect match. :)

Sounds like a few people are having good nights of late. The 300mm Dobs are great on nebulae and this is the time of the year for them

Clear skies to all :)
