Hi all!!

Inspired by Mike's image of NGC253, I went back and reprocessed my data from 2012 using my new RGB debayer ratio in DSS, the new Colour module in StarTools and Jay Gabany's LAB colour enhancement technique.

I'm now convinced that despite the UHC-S filter I use imaging here from my light polluted backyard 12kms from the centre of Brisbane, I can get images that are full of colour!

I took this image about this time last year using my QHY8L and my 8" f/6 newt. It's a stack of 30x5 minute subs and I've also attached my previous attempt at reprocessing.

Me thinks I'm getting the hang of this lark! :D

Cheers,
Mario

Thanks for the thumbs up Mike!! I really like the vivid colour processing that you do so I thought to myself "hey why not see how close I can get to one of the Masters" and this is the end result!

Once again thanks for the feedback,

Cheers,
Mario

Love it!

Care to share your debayer ratio? I think your cam uses the same Sony HAD chip as my SX, and debayering in DSS was always fairly uninspiring (but GOOD in PI)

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts!!

Lewis, my RGB ratio in DSS debayering is 0.7:1.0:0.7. However this is due to my UHC-S filter really hitting the green channel and my desire to lift it back into a useful realm.

I should also point out that Ivo Jager has been helping me work through and understand this problem of the loss of colour with my images. Although DSS gets me back to a ballpark white spectrum, his new Colour module in StarTools really lets me get in and fine tune my images.

To say I'm very happy with the results is an understatement!!

Cheers,
Mario
