A reader wrote this in to the Sydney Morning Herald the other day. :screwy:
According to him, the Voyager mission is NOT for real. :screwy:

I shared this on the IceInSpace facebook page yesterday from a science site, and not surprisingly it attracted comments from many irate and bamboozled stargazers.

Bill Thomas from Cabramatta aye...If that name is legit he shouldn't be hard to find since Cabramatta is mostly an asian population these days.

And when we find him... WE CAN BURN THIS HEATHENS HOUSE DOWN!!!

No but seriously this guy sounds like a barrel of fun after he's downed a bottle of red.

Hi Suzy,:)

I think its great to have people question things. Without the search for the truth, or why, or how, progress would slow to a halt. Its called science to do that in its basic form.

Bill Thomas is not far from science in questioning the authenticity of the existence of Voyager. His source of information may be somewhat lacking in integrity though. He should be applauded.

And! Even cheered on as he is led to the psychiatric ward. What a.....(insert obscene name calling)

Cheers:)

There will always be folk who, even in the face of solid evidence from multiple sources, refuse to accept facts that contradict their ingrained, unshakable (if ridiculous) beliefs.

Apollo moon landings? Chemtrails? Evolution? 9/11 conspiracy?

Often, there is simply no point trying to convince these blinkered, prejudiced people.

Thanks for sharing Suzy, I howled with laughter at that :D

Now if only his first name was John we could have been sure he was taking the p*** rather than just delusional in the face of overwhelming evidence...almost 40 years worth.

I saw that on the day and the only rational explanation I could give it was that he was objecting to the anthropomorphisation of Voyager 1 in the original story.
Otherwise another member of the wacko fringe.

Gold! Comedy GOLD!!!

Although I did hear the announcer on ABC News Radio talking about how the Voyager spacecraft had "...reached the edge of the Galaxy".

In a later news update that morning his script had been quietly corrected.
