I have NEVER had an issue with parcels with Australia Post in the 30 odd years I have been buying and selling.
I bought a fantastic Zvixen SXW package off here on the trader last week. Of course, it had to go 2 boxes - head in one, tripod the other. Both posted the same time, same post office.
Thankfully, the head arrived perfectly, 2 days after being sent (as is typical Sydney to QLD). No sign of the tripod. Check on line - no updates, just says "In Transit" with the only activity being acceptance.
Hoping being longer it went a different way, but who knows. The seller will lodge a complaint tomorrow and see what that shaking loosens.
Fingers crossed - of course, the SXW wont fit the GPD2 tripod...

I saw how easily it can happen last week. A delivery for an odd numbered address opposite our office was delivered to our office. I checked the address on the label, insisted to the courier that he had the wrong address and shown him where the correct address. He would have been just as happy for us to sign and forget it, even after being told he had the wrong address.
On the plus side shipments often get fragmented, usually when there are size differences, my Az-EQ6 arrived in 2 seperate deliveries 4 days apart despite being consigned at the same time.

Not sure about AP they seem to be changing a bit recently.I use to be able to get long extensions for my butterfly nets from Australian Entomological supplies, no probs, but now you can no longer send parcels longer than 105 cm,its a real PITA I can no longer post fishing rods to customers either that are two piece and longer than 105 cm :mad2:

Chris, that one has been around for a LONG time - the length is actually 104cm. I USED to post rifles (back in the day), and then they started to change it so nothing longer than 104 would go AusPost- conveniently, most rifles are JUST over 104cm... Lee Enfields were GREAT, since you can take the butt off :) Voila, 70cm parcel :)
Alas, the new gun laws changed all that, except within QLD where I can STILL post them, though ONLY to another dealer. Interstate must go dealer to dealer, Courier.
I am hoping when I check the AusPost tracking tomorrow it says "Out for delivery today" :)
I really regret missing the sender's early SMS that asked if I wanted insurance :(

When I had my EQ6 sent it came in 2 boxes via courier. The head arrive and then 3 days later the tripod turned up. Both sent at the same time by the same courier.

Your tripod is the older (pre 2011) model and on the bottom of your GPD2 (2012model) is a 45mm>60mm adapter so you can get the SXD or SXW to fit by removing the adapter from the GP and using it on the SX, just 1 grub screw holding it on.
Can't help you with Aust Post though, I sent a registered letter which arrived in 2 days, but the delivery notification return slip was not signed for another 6 weeks, go figure.

Sll god - status says it is out for delivery . PHEW.
Matt, that is what I thought, and tried it a few days ago. Yes, the adapter lets it fir the hole, but in no way will the azimuth secure, as the GP azimuth peg is further BACK toward the hole, and the SX is further away towards the rim, and a different shape. The azimuth screws don't even touch the peg.
I thought to use the half pillar, but no way either - same deal.
So, a GP tripod fits a GP series head, but not SX series head. An SX series tripod has a head adapter that makes a GP series head fit it. There probably is an adapter from SX head to GP tripod, but that no longer maters :)
