hi guys. I have had my C14/g11 with gemini 2 for a few years now. Recently i have put in a perm pier in my backyard. I have limited stars to pick from my location to even setup a GOTO model. If i were to buy TheSkyX program and use that to do my GOTO modelling would i get accurate GOTOs??? Its extremely important for my modelling to be accurate because of the high focal length.

The short answer is yes, but my manual approach is probably not the most elegant and others have better methods using ASCOM solution. I don't have SkyX, but Sky6. Should be same result. You can build up the model in the Gemini using SkyX data points. You just have to make sure that when you send mount to a selected target star on the SkyX map, that you then make sure it gets centered on your CCD. Then you sync star in SkyX, then you go to Gemini and align to PC object. That point is then added to the model. When finish adding up to 255 data points using SkyX, data points, you can save model in Gemini.

Hi Mark

Sorry I was not clear, the 255 is the limit on the Gemini. You are not likely to need that many alignment points!! Whatever number gives you the accuracy you need. i.e. anything up to 255 is possible.

You might also be able to use a free program like AstroTortilla to help. I currently tell the G11 to go to some place (either via the hand controller or via stellarium), the I get AT to verify/fix the position. When AT is happy, I then sync on the hand controller.
