Ok so I lied in my last thread. A reprocess right from the original stacks with new darks, and bias frames along with some new tips I learnt over the last month.

Proper deconvolution, better noise reduction, local histogram equalisation, and interestingly for some reason a different colour balance after stacking with PI instead of deep sky stacker.

Much more of the outer halo is visible now.

Not sure which is new, but I like the left one the most. A little more noise, but more detail IMHO too.

Looks good Chris - there are a lot of small galaxies visible in the field. You are getting some nice round stars too and that is often the tricky bit in my experience.

When that little white (galaxy?) horizontal smudge appears next to the orange star over on the right hand side you're really starting to get some detail. Haven't seen that in many renditions this year. Might be possible to deconvolve out a bit more of the spokes in the Ha if you push a smidge harder? You gots lots of details in the brighter parts for sure. Lots of people get caught up in pushing the outer "eyebrow" shells.

Let's just say that's due to awesome alignment and nothing to do with deconvolution using an egg shaped point-spread-function. :whistle:



I think I'm at my limits. I spent a good hour trying to get the most out of deconvolution this time. The originals aren't all that sharp.
