We've had a pretty miserable few weeks cloud wise in WA. I was hoping to head south for last weekends conjunction, but no luck. Monday night looked ok (for a couple of hours), so I decided to make a mad dash to an old favourite - the Pinnacles. I'm glad I did. The view was stunning and reminded me why I need to move to the country one day! :)

From top to bottom - Saturn, Moon, Venus, Spica.

Really nice Colin. The clouds on the right almost look like the sea on a beach. How far do you have to drive to get there?

Thanks guys, appreciate the feedback :)

You can see the ocean in the very bottom right. But yeah, the clouds are like a false sea. Takes about 2 - 2 & 1/2 hours depending on traffic. I had to leave quite early in the afternoon though, to avoid the northern peak hour car park!

I have to stop looking at these nightscapes as the bar continues to be raised.

Great work Colin

Great shot ... I'm usually a bit "meh" on Pinnacles shots, there are so many, but this is a unique angle ;) and I like it :)

The bar is pretty damn high already

It's pretty cool to have such scenic locations couple of hours drive from where you live. Just noticed Antu and yourself have nearly the same avatar. Yours is just a little rounder around the edges.

Wow I love this shot! What lens/camera/settings was this taken at? I haven't heard of the pinnacles before. Is it worth a trip to check out (only been in WA for 3yrs and haven't really explored much)?

Simply stunning mate  I was unfortunately unable to get away for the night to image this one. Caught glimpses of it between clouds.

Simply breath-taking - always thought the Pinnacles would make an extreme dark site (or some of the massive sand dune areas near by.

Been about 4 years since we were at the Pinnacles. I thought it was locked off at night?

Thanks again for the comments. :)

No probs accessing at night. Hope it remains open, it's a lovely spot to escape to.

Yeah, certainly worth the trip. About 2 1/2 hr drive north from Perth.
