Everyone will remember the name Terry Lovejoy - he's a humble IceInSpace member who famously discovered the Christmas comet of 2011, C/2011 W3 (Lovejoy). It was an incredibly bright comet for the Southern Hemisphere, and was the first Kreutz Sungrazing comet discovered by ground based observation in over 40 years.
Well, he's done it again. He's discovered his 4th comet, designated C/2013 R1 (LOVEJOY) and the discovery magntitude was 14.4.
According to Ernesto Guido and Nick Howes (http://remanzacco.blogspot.com.au/2013/09/new-comet-c2013-r1-lovejoy.html), the comet isn't expected to be another dazzler (unfortunately), predicted to only reach magnitude 8 or 9, but it's still a fantastic achievement for Terry.

We had a nice discussion on Facebook recently about those of us who name our pets after our hobby :) I thought it'd be nice to start the same discussion here, for those who aren't members of Facebook.
Tell us about your astro/science-named pets etc . My dogs name is 'Astro' :)
