learning astronomy

Are there any uni's around that offer a course in astronomy either online or via correspondence?

What do you want to end up with? Swinbourne has something but as to its merit I have no idea

Swinbourne Online does a Graduate Certificate (Australian Residents only), a Graduate Diploma and a Masters in Astronomy. Lots of work but worth it. Pm me if you want details.

I think James Cook does an Astronomy Degree as well but I don't know the details.

I've been looking at these ( Swinburne & James Cook ) too. They both offer Grad Cert/Dip and Masters, but James Cook also offers other research degree options up to Phd level. You can enrol in single subjects with Swinburne - test the waters - but to my reading you would need to enrol in a full course at James Cook. Both the websites tell you all you need to know. Anyone out there with any personal experience of these or any other courses? Cheers, Quokka.

I might have a look at the ones on at the sydney observatory since it is on my way home, and if i go ok at those, enrol at swinburne or USYD

If you enroll at Swinburne be aware the only contact you have with your lecturer is online and a large part (about 30% but depends on the subject) of your marks come from interacting in a newsgroup setup for the particular unit you are studying at the time. The projects are great though.

Yeah but I work full time and don't really have the time to commit to an on campus course. Or the money. Or the UAI.
