G'day everyone! Took this not long ago. It was a rather cold night, not a single cloud in sight!
Sony A57 with 18-55mm lens
30 seconds at ISO 1600, f/5.

Thinking of stacking some pictures next time :D

Hats off to you, Sean for your best MW shot so far.

I reckon there's still lots of potential for that image if you're shooting RAW.

Also, opening up the aperture more to it's widest setting for that focal length will help get in more light at the shortest time.

Same goes with ISO. The A57 has good noise handling and can even set it to 3200 or even 6400 and just use a good noise removal software in post processing.

Also, as what most people do, the MW makes for a good background if you have an interesting foreground like a natural or man-made object to put it in perspective. So after taking a solo shot of the MW, you might want to recompose and try different angles or orientation too for that creative shot.

Not really a fan of big watermarks that take focus away from the main subject. a simple inconspicuous one is usually more preferred for easy viewing. But that's just me.

My early MW photos lacked detail and colour and it's through this forum that I've learned how to get the settings right.

Keep the good momentum up and looking forward to more MW photos! :)
