Here's something that p*sses me off no end ...
Have you ever had your local video rental store screw up the return scan and have a DVD still registered as out even though you've returned it? This happens to me frequently, including the regulation text/call a few days later with, "Just a reminder that your DVD is overdue ...", or maybe they tell you next time you rent. I always explain it was returned several days ago, etc. They check the shelf, find the DVD, and then give me a half-hearted apology, of the kind that they know they have to but don't want to. And that's that, until next time.
It annoys me greatly that, in between the text/call/whatever and eventual apology, even with their atrocious record of stuffing up return scans, they still adopt that tone - you know, when they listen to you explain, but they don't believe you and think you're a thief, especially when they trot out that standard line, "But our records show ...".
It makes we want to reach over the counter, or down the phone line, and grab the pimply-faced, teenage little s___ and beat some sense into them.
In the latest debacle, I rented a TV series, disc by disc, one at a time, in sequence, roughly once per week. I just finished and returned the last one a week ago. Tonight, when renting a movie, I get my usual surprise, with "Do you still have ...". No, says I, all returned. "But maybe ...". No, says I, I rented them one-by-one, and they're all back. I go over to the shelf and actually find the damn thing for them (the last disc in the series), and bring it to the desk. But, as it turns out, it's the second-last one they've stuffed up, and not bothered to tell me about before now. I explain, again, that I rented on-by-one in the correct order and if you have the last one back, why do you think I would still have second-last one? I politely point out the last few stuff ups they've made. "But our records show ...". Aaaarrrrrgghh!
I think I'm going to have insist on some kind of return receipt to put an end to their erroneous ways.
And roll on movie downloads, so I no longer have to put up with this ridiculous, annoying cr*p.

The DVD store in Gracemere claimed I had several videos overdue.
1: I was not a member
2: I lived in Mt Isa at the time
Looked like someone had stolen my identity and signed up for membership. Finally got it sorted out after threats of listing me with credit agencies.

Not that I rent videos often, it has probably been about 5 years or so, however i rented three at that time as i was going away and thought a couple of videos may be in order.
When I went to play the one of my choice, the DVD inside was not the same as the one listed on the cover.
Now that is annoying if one particularity wanted to see that movie.

I don't rent dvds very often, some years back I went into the local civic and reading a sign that read 3 new releases ,fri/sat/ sun $10 ,grabbed 3 and went home , and returned them on sunday, next time I go in I'm told by the young woman who put the sign up , they were overdue on the sunday because they were all overnight , I pointed out there was nothing on the case to say they were overnight and I thought it was a little misleading, she became quite narky ,as I mentioned ,it was her sign, and launched into a rant about people( so I wasn't the first to bring it up) being able to read and understand English, another customer standing there was shaking his head at her antics , anyways left and never went back.

The young lady in my local store this evening needs to work on her customer relations. In particular she needs to understand the concept of 'too much information'. She was on the phone to a customer so I could only hear her side which went something like this.
"No, sorry. All the copies of that are out or people have stolen them."
and shortly after
"No, that one's actually out with one of the guys that works here and he won't be bringing it back tonight."

Sorry, not so, it's the optic fibre all the way that is the key and needs to be done now, what feeds it and what reads it can and will be easily updated in the future for currently unimaginable speeds

Scumbag DVD online renting company (based in Perth), hit me up for a membership I had NEVER applied for. Disputed it with the bank, got the $30 back. How they got my credit card is beyond me, and I even received 3 DVD's in the post (which I posted back same day, with messages inside about wrong details etc - no, the video's were not worth watching either ;) )
They tried hitting me AGAIN, and this time I sent them a rather legal letter. They ceased immediately.
Again, HOW they managed to get my credit card number is a mystery, as I KNOW my wife did not do it either.

Yup!
The NBN has rolled out in our Street!
Rocked down to the local Telstra shop to sign up and......
$120 a month for 12Mbps, currently enjoy 8-10 Mbps for less than half the cost and that's after it has mysteriously recently slowed up. Add an extra $20 for 25Mbps and another $20 for 100Mbps.
Can't see us hooking up anytime soon....or our neighbors.
Ripped off and disappointed

That's the whole reason we are getting the fibre optics. He will hog that with his stuff at a fraction of the cost of satellites.

Couldn't agree more...
Do we really need yet another thread for people who have nothing better to do than whinge about pointless crap???
So you were inconvenienced for 2 minutes while they checked the shelves, big deal... That poor "pimple- faced, teenage s___" as you so eloquently put it, has probably been dealing with rude, grumpy, impatient a__ holes all day for weeks on end, and earning a pittance for it as he does it...
And I suppose he's just supposed to believe you when you say you returned them regardless of what his records show??? If every DVD store did that the industry would cease to exist pretty quick... But at least that would give you something else to whinge about...
As a retailler myself, is it really that hard to spare a thought for the people working in the stores you shop in, not only do they have to put up with your crap, they have been dealing with everyone else's all day...

No one forced you to read it, or reply. It's in General Chat, and of course, you're welcome to participate, but also welcome not to. I do have many better things to do - that's a wrong assumption on your part - there are a few others. I can equally say: Did you have nothing better to do than post your reply? If you think I'm whinging, then what are you doing?
I was polite at all times. I make a point of that. They, however, are very abrupt to the point of rudeness. And wrong. Don't forget that. It gets tiresome effectively being accused of theft for the umpteenth time.
Every previous stuff-up/accusation has been resolved in my favour yet they don't learn and don't improve their process or conduct. Am I supposed to accept their mistakes, at my cost, without putting my case? I'm actually one of their best customers and have returned everything on time and in the same or better condition.
You assume I don't. That'd be wrong.
Again, I am never rude in a shop and usually friendly with retail staff - probably one of the most friendly out there, if what I hear/see while standing in queues is anything to go by. But that hardly means I should accept every stuff up at the first suggestion, particularly when it wrongly costs me money (or would if I didn't argue my case) and is the latest in a long line of stuff ups.

I am sure he has better things to do than correcting someones else mistakes. If they checked if DVD was returned before they called, text or tell him when he is visiting next time the whole problem would be avoided.
Of course its a big deal. To be accused for something you didn't do before you make sure you got all bases covered is simply wrong. Read again, he himself went and found "missing" DVD on the shelf for them in one instance. They should have done that themselves, is it really that hard? Or is it easier to accuse customer and make them uncomfortable for something they didn't do? Its a common sense really.
No, he is supposed to check it himself first to make sure its maybe on the shelf before he calls, text the customer. And the whole issue wouldn't exist. Simple!
WOW! Please do tell us what shop you work in so we can avoid it! Good luck to you in retail with attitude like this!
cheers

My isp internode has far cheaper nbn plans.

No dearer than ADSL
Who in their right mind would pay those Telstra plans
Cheers.

There are other ISPs other than Telstra you know...
the NBN will be more expensive than current ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+ technologies. It is after all, a new infrastructure, and the expenses to build it have to be recuperated.
