Hello IceInSpace forum.
After lurking on this forum for a time, I figured it'd be better if I joined in.
I've only recently ventured into the realm of astrophotography, despite being fascinated by the night sky and outer space for as long as I can remember.
My current rig consists of a standard 8" LX200 and a Coronado PST, through which I've been limited to taking images with a Nikon D3000 and my iPhone camera from severely light polluted skies (the joys of being a student).
Looking forward to learning from the collected knowledge of this awesome site!
Marcus.

Good to have another Melbourner on board.
Yes, our skies here are a bit polluted by stray photons... but it's still fun to have a go.
Sometime during the summer months I load my scope into the back of the car and go to the Lake Mountain Ski Resort car park. A worthwhile trip if you want some good clear sky for photos.
Geoff.

Hi Marcus
Nice name.
Welcome to the forum - there are lots of helpful people on here so, when it's raining, there plenty to entertain yourself on here.
Cheers

Hi Marcus. Not sure I can offer any assistance with the fact you are a Vic ;). But welcome to the forum. We can help you with other things... Use an LX200 scope myself and love it... I know they say it always rains in Melbourne so imaging can be a problem, but be assured it ain't a whole lot better here in Adelaide. Soon I will have a mint condition vintage scope with few signs of use :(
Welcome to the forum

Welcome to IIS and that is a nice pair of scopes to start off with. This has been possibly the worst run of weather for observing this winter in Vic, hopefully it improves soon!!
Have you contacted any clubs about getting to observing nights?

Thank you all for the warm welcome to the site.
Not yet, I've been swamped with homework as of this year. It's something I'll probably get around to once exams are over.

Welcome Marcus! you'll get plenty of of advice on this forum
I agree with you Malcolm, deadset MONTHS of cloud! I haven't taken an astrophoto since early autumn. Its depressing really, especially when you have a 'new' rig desperate for some photons! hopefully sunday night will part clouds and winds :D
