Jay Gabani just did his talk on color. Lots of debate on science vs art and the philosophy behind manipulating color for artistic/visual appeal. David Malin put the position forward that manipulating color as proposed was not a true reflection of the image. 25 minutes of audience debate was the result. Great fun.

The colour debate was very entertaining. I thought it would end in a duel with DSLR's at 20 paces. Lol

Some great data from R Jay Gabany with 7 techniques for intensifying colour.
Also an excellent presentation by Don Goldman about how to process narrowband images including how to deal with magenta stars, how to layer in rgb stars etc plus some useful info on bringing out details.

I wasn't aware of any competition like the first event. I checked the AAIC website again whilst there and there is no mention of any image competition nor was there any remarks about one when I was there.
What are you referring to?
Greg.

Hi folks.
Would certainly like to add my sincere thanks to Mark, Megan, Debbie and Chris for organising and executing what was an outstanding event in my view and I have been to similar events, but the selection of presenters and range of topics covered was just great.
I certainly appreciate the great feedback I received concerning my particular talk. Indeed, many that were there travelled far and spent a lot of money to attend so I understand the want from those participating to get high quality, valuable and usable content; that was my intent all along and why I delivered a full 90 minute talk...so I hope I achieved that.
Personally, I also really enjoyed all of the other presentations and it was great to finally meet the folks behind the IIS Avatars and Aliases!
Again, thanks Mark - BZ to you. (That's Naval speak for 'Bloody well done').
Hope to join you all in 2015.
cheers
Martin

Huh? There was to be an award presented to someone for their outstanding contribution to amateur astroimaging in Oz...? Must have been canned?

I would like to add my thanks to organisers and presenters as well.
What a great event. I enjoyed all the presentations. Even some that were not directly related to my interest were fascinating and entertaining.
Will definately be back next event. I enjoyed meeting some of my fellow imagers and Ice In spacers just as much as the presentations.

:) Thank you to everyone involved in AAIC 2013, that includes the organiser, speakers and all who attended.
I learned so much, some can use now with my DSLR work, and the rest will be useful if every I make the transition to CDD. :)
I took plenty of photos and I'll post them in their own thread.
