2/10 seeing, cloud, dew, then rain - JUPITER 24th June

Hi All after a week solid of cloudy drissly wonderfulness, there appeared at sunset a break in the cloud. I ran around setting up the scope wondering if Jupiter still had stripes. Dew hit the corrector plate as soon as the cover came off so had to run the hearter on high. Seeing was an appalling 2/10. I didn't care. Put the 4x powermate in and snapped of a couple of avis' before the first drop of rain appeared and Jupiter faded from the screen - been drissling off and on ever since (I wish if it were going to rain it would do it properly!). Processed one avi and here it is.... memories are not made of this :D ... no nude struts in THIS house:P

ay least it's given me a chance to practive my new processing routine a) convert avi to BMPs; b) run ppmcentre; c) run RGB split; d) process each colour channels BMPS in registax; e) ME deconvolution in Astra Image and recombined into RGB:whistle:

Every time I look at the jetstream, it is right across the top of the continent. It simply has not left in the last 2 months!!!!

Ten for trying Robert,

last night had my scope cooled to 1/2 degree below ambient, clouds came in, by the time it cleared I was too tired and stars were twinkling everywhere. Seems we get one good night about every 3 weeks and never 2 in a row.

in SE QLD we've got a serious drought with the most stringent water restrictions in my memory... seems the seeing has gone out in sympathy!

Not only has the Jetstream parked itself across us, for some reason the yellow bits seem to sit on Brisbane and never venture too far east or west of us:shrug: I'm guessing its a seasonal thing that I never really noticed before as I was never into planetary the way I am now. Ah well, what comes around and all that:D

If it's clear tonight - looking promising - I'll be out again straining the mid digit at the sky:)
