I'm not familiar with this type of scope but just in case you don't have one here is where you can get a copy of the manual for the scope. I hope it helps.

Hi Allan

Although modern ‘scopes have become much easier to set up and use, I think that a Meade 14” scope is reasonably advanced and in my opinion, would be beyond trying to teach you how to use it via a post on a Forum, even though Ice In Space is a very talented community.:)

Can I suggest you contact and join a local astronomy society/club where you should be able to learn about a few general astronomy concepts and then you should be better able to marry this knowledge to the specific technical features of the Meade, whereupon you should get much more satisfactory results?:)

Of course, this assumes you are within striking distance of a local club.:D

Good luck!

Cheers

Dennis

can you be more specific, do you need setup help, the control pad, or everything?

Hi Allan,

Do you want to use the scope for visual astronomy or astro photography? or Both?

Have you got any of these with your scope?:

equatorial wedge
focuser
dew shield
eyepieces
diagonal
bahtinov mask
dew heater/controller
focal reducer

guide scope and camera
DSLR or CCD camera

laptop
most software is free

I ask as depending on what you have, can sway what you do.

I have the 10" LX200GPS which I think, apart from size, is close in operation.

If you have the wedge and guide scope then astro photography will be good.

If you have no wedge or guide scope then some astro photography can be done with I imagine great visuals from a 14" scope.

Anyway, if you just simply want to set it up and have not been able to, then it's not that hard really.

Happy to see if I can help in any way, but need to know where you are at, and exactly what you want to achieve and do.

Oh, and is yours the later LX200-ACF version or the one before LX200-GPS

Cheers,

Damien.
