47 Tuc, a giant in the sky

Hi all, few weeks after I posted my image of Omega Centauri I got a chance to process the fits I took on the second largest globular of the sky, 47 Tuc. The link:

Here again I opted for a long exposure (mostly in luminance) to have enough s/n to stretch a see how large was the external halo of the cluster. To my surprise it turned out to be similar if no bigger than Omega centauri itself, imaged here (http://www.glitteringlights.com/Images/Open-and-Globular-clusters/i-7SjVj9d/A) with the same setup, scale and similar exposure data and stretching..

However this is another incredible object both photographically and visually, a real beauty of the sky!

About 10 hours of accumulated light, details on the image page..

Yeh wow looks great Marco, lovely handling of the stars in this very difficult to process object :thumbsup: nearly 7hrs of Luminance huh? amazing! :thumbsup:

Something looks a little strange though, there is a distinct glow in the background between the glob stars in a distinct circle shape but this glow seems to abruptly finish and then the outer area of the image has a dark sky between the stars :shrug: Do you understand what I am saying? While this makes the glob look bigger, is it real?

Hi Mike, well, mmm :question: I don't get you this time mate. I cannot see any glow, halo or whatever you are talking about. There is still some chroma to be removed on the background that is not in the center (with much higher s/n) that *may* give a strange perception (I didn't remove the chroma noise from the background), apart from that, cannot see any "distinct circle shape" that "abruptly finish".. :question:
I believe what you refer to is indeed the chroma noise of background that is "covered" by the higher brightness and s/n of the globular cluster..
Can you elaborate a bit better? :thanx:

Hi Mike, no worries, I am happy to get critical feedback since they point out aspects on the image otherwise overlooked.. one improves if he gets critics, not only appraisals :)

I will check closely the image as I have a chance and see what you (and another mate but seems his post disappeared) are pointing out. I will be away few days for a biz trip so need to do that later on ;)
