I need more focal length! :)

Was out in the backyard doing some light painting with my wife (she's learning photography), so quickly setup the 6D and 120-400mm lens @ 400mm and took a snap of the Moon.

It's a single shot. At such a short focal length and without stacking many shots, processing is much different than when capturing at 1000mm focal length through the ED80 and stacking 50 shots.

As a comparison, I added the scale of the Moon on the full-frame sensor @ 400mm. The larger one is obviously cropped significantly from the full frame but the detail is still ok.

It was practically hand-held, because the zoom on the Sigma kept sliding back (the Moon was overhead) so I had to hold it out with my hand, therefore I set the shutter speed fast (1/2000s) with a higher ISO (1250), f/6.3.

Happy with the snapshot anyway :)

Real nice Mike, Looks like pearing through Bino's which is very appealing, as you can wonder how the multi billion ton moon actually just hangs out there in all that space, great view and sharp detail, ,

Looking good Mike.
You'll have to get Kate to post some of her light paintings too !
She hasn't posted on IIS for ages. ;)
