LRGB IMAGE 4.5 hrs L, 1 hr R,1 hr G, 1 hr B, ST-10XME, BRC-250
Played around with Pixelinsight on the NGC 6744 data to see if it worth purchasing.
It is a poor image as the colour doesn't look right.
Higher resolution here.

Wow, you really got a lot signal there. Colour is a tad too cyan in spots. Its an ellusive target this one.
Greg.
Looks great to me!
Starry Night reports it Mag 15, Wikipedia Mag 9 ?? I'll give this one a go, but if its Mag 15 at that size, I might pass!

Good detail, Steven. A bit of tweaking on the colour and it would look great.

Thanks for the feedback.
NGC 6744 tweaked by removing some cyan.

Looks great, Steven-lots of nice detail there, and colours definitely better in the second one

Nice work Steven. This sure is a difficult galaxy and you have the faint bits. Colour balancing on this dim stuff sure is problematic - if you work out a foolproof method, please post it... regards Ray

Ive found this one difficult too. Given the amount of data on such a dim galaxy thats pretty deep, and the colour balance is OK, I just couldnt get "brown" highlights in the core at all.

I wouldn't say "oh no..." I'd say "oh boy what a great image!" Very nice!!

Fred, Ray
I think this is one of those objects that requires significantly longer colour exposures.
My rule of thumb of using 1 hr for each of the colour channels works for most objects...... NGC 6744 isn't one of them.
Thanks Peter.

Lovely shot, have added this to my todo list if its not too faint for my humble 102mm refractor.

Nice one, Steven. You've got a bit of a 3D look going there. Out of curiosity, did you calibrate this with flat frames?

Dave,
The sub exposures were flat field corrected.

I reckon that's an awesome image ... I'd be happy with that colour, if I could get even that good a balance with my LRGB images :)
