Been around a year since I last observed Venus.
Here is an image in RGB + UV light. I used the UV channel to vary the blue and also the overall value.
C11 + Televue 2.5x Powermate + DBK21AU618.AS for RGB, DMK21AU04.AS camera for UV. UV is with a Custom Scientific photometric U filter.
Seeing was not very good. According to the B.O.M. the jetstream was whistling at 80 - 100 kts.

that's a top image Ivan. You got a lot of detail regardless of the @!#%$@# jetstream. Regards Ray

Thanks Russel, yes, you really do need to use a UV filter to see any cloud detail.
Ha ha, thanks Mark. You'll always get some interesting hue when you replace one of the colour channels with UV data.
Thanks Ray. Interestingly, I think the jetstream has a less severe effect on UV than lower level bad seeing; smears out detail, but low level wobble is worse for trying to get an image.
Cheers Laurie.
Appreciate the comment Hugh.
Thanks Asimov, you should get a UV filter, especially as I think you have a 618 mono camera?
Thanks Ralph.

Ivan I have a UV filter - Had a lifetime guarantee, it de-laminated on me within 12 months - The 'lifetime guarantee' was quickly changed to 'bugger off, we'll offer you a discount on a new one'. I won't be buying another one & will simply settle back & watch you & others post.

Hmm, I hope it wasn't a Custom Scientific. I've had no cause for complaint with their filters to date.

No. You should be safe enough with the Custom Scientific.

Thanks Bob. This phase is a good time to get some detail on Venus.
