15th Aug. First light DMK618.

What a great camera! While others are busy upgrading to a camera with a bigger sensor, I'm going more sensitive.

The big noticeable difference between the DMK21 AU04 & the DMK618 is with my normal disc settings (zero gain, 42 gamma exposure 1/250th sec.) I'm now travelling at over 1/650 sec. exp. with the same histogram.

As for the proms, It's a no brainer!!

I'd doubt many would believe this was in poor seeing, so I won't say it :P

Lunt60/12 panes.

1 @ prime. 1 with a 1.5x drizzle.

The DMK618 looks good John, you have a lots of patience. 12 panes for a full solar disk is a lot of work, maybe I'm getting lazy? I only use the DMK618 for closeups of prominences or to image an active region. I may try the DMK618 using a shorter focal length scope.

I'm not out there long George. 6 panes for the disc is 1700 frames captured @ 60FPS & for the proms, 900-1200 frames @ 30FPS. I don't capture a million AVI's like I used to do lol. It's one set & I'm out of there. Naturally if it's lovely seeing though, I'll have a muck about with barlows etc.

Takes about a min for each AVI in AS!2. 2 mins to convert the TIFF's to BMP, into Imerge for the mosaic, roughly 5 mins. Into Registax, another 5 mins..All up I can get a result posted in roughly an hour at a leisurely rate.

Dang, that 1st is a corker John, I know you like the suble look, but seeing these solar images with a good dose of constrast really sets them off :thumbsup: just my two bobs worth :P

Hey thanks Bob. Yeah I don't mind some contrast, & the smaller the disc the better really, for adding contrast. The 1.5X disc, I just couldn't get away with much more contrast without adding grain to it.

John, it just seem to me to take forever to process a lot of images. I'll give it ago next time I see the sun and yes your first imaging is stunning.
